RACC deliver courses to meet the needs, interests and abilities of both adults and young people who wish to learn in an adult environment.

We are currently looking for sessional Learning Support Workers to primarily support on courses for LLDD learners based at centers in the London Borough of Merton.

You will be supporting learners with a range of disabilities or learning difficulties. Duties will include supporting learners on their learning programme by maintaining their goals and targets, assisting with personal care, social interaction, reinforcing Tutor instructions and to actively monitor the health and safety of learners.

The courses will be offered at three locations; Pollards Hill Library, the High Path Community Centre and the Jan Malinowski Centre. The subjects covered are Cooking including meal preparation, Health, Dance and Performing Arts. Courses are scheduled on 4 days of the week – currently, not Tuesday. Courses will run term time only across the academic year starting in September 2017.

You will be assigned to a group of learners depending on your experience and qualifications. As part of this role, you will be expected to help prepare resources for the learners and assist with the management of these resources. You will be supporting the learners assigned to you; assisting the tutor with the running of the Diagnostic Assessments, helping the learners to review ILPs and helping to organise their work to enable them to complete their portfolio(s).

Please note, you will be required to attend team meetings at RACC once a term during an academic year, for which you will be paid.

Applicants should have a level 2 in English and Maths (or equivalent), knowledge of supporting learners with disabilities or learning difficulties as well as an understanding of Safeguarding and Equality and diversity.

As a variable hours Learning Support Worker, you will join our bank of staff and will be offered assignments if and when that match your area of expertise. Hours are variable and cover daytimes, evenings and weekends.
